Car Seats for Clay County Public Health
Donations made to the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation have been used to purchase nearly 20 car seats for families in financial need.
The Child Passenger Safety Program of Clay County Public Health was established in 2011.
Through this program two CPS technicians promote child passenger safety at community events, through car seat checkup events and through individual appointments. Additionally, families experiencing financial hardship may qualify for a free car seat.
Motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children in the United States. This program increases the proper use of child restraints and provides seats to families with limited resources. |

Point of Care Ultrasound for ER
Donations made to the greatest need fund of the Foundation have been used to purchase a Philips Lumify Ultrasound Probe.
This technology will be used in the Emergency Department by physicians to allow for a FAST (focused assessment with sonography in trauma) exam.
This rapid bedside ultrasound examination looks for blood around the heart or abdominal organs after trauma. The use of this technology will allow for emergency providers to more quickly and informatively determine the direction for patient care. |

| Foundation Giving Opportunity |

Foundation $5 donation for Patient Fun!
On Friday, February 28 the Foundation will kick off a special Leap of Kindness funding opportunity to support our patients. Your $5 donation, or more, will go toward an Acts of Kindness fund, which will be used to help entertain and provide comfort to long-term patients at Spencer Hospital.
“We had a skilled patient who stayed with us for a long period of time. One game she has always enjoyed is BINGO. We wanted to make that happen for her so that she had something to look forward to each day. Each time someone entered the room, they picked a BINGO ball. The whole experience was fun and interactive to help this patient countdown her days until she got to go home.
