Living Well While Time Rolls On
Maybe I was 15 when dad took my brother and I on a walk to begin orienting us to how fast life passes by. “Right now, 20 years sounds like forever. But boys, your days will roar by — coming and going faster than you imagine.“ So spot-on.
When we drive to a destination ‘new to us,' the first trip seems to take longer. The 2nd & 3rd trips seem to progress much faster. In the same way, our decades seem to melt by — faster and faster still. SO TRUE!… Now what?
DO HARD THINGS.
Years ago, I was weighing the heavy lift of a new business build-out. Considering the potential ROI, I asked God. He responded, “Worth it.” Looking back now: That costly, extensive, decade-long decision to obey Father’s prompting has far exceeded expectations.
MORE WAYPOINTS:
- Even while we're faithful and steadfast, the unfolding of our days often won’t look like we thought.
- A Marathon/Crockpot posture helps:
Relationships; Seed-sowing; Pouring into others; Serving; Building… most good stuff really pays off in long term dividends.
- Decide to respond to Father's invitations with a, “You have my ‘Yes” attitude.
Beware offers promising immediate ROI. God's universe is woven to reward longevity.
Our best ‘fruit-bearing potentials’ often begins after months — years — even decades of cultivation.
How about you? Where have you seen these principals at work? What postures can you say have helped you become a man who lives well even as each tomorrow comes faster and faster?
