Walnut Planting Postponed!
|
|
The wet winter continues to foil our local Department of Forestry! The walnut seedling planting scheduled for this Saturday, March 16, is being postponed due to heavy rains. If you want to be notified of the reschedule date for this workday, please contact Phil Davis at philip.davis@va.usda.gov
and copy Josh McLaughlin, joshua.mclaughlin@dof.virginia.gov Thank you, everyone!

The Department of Forestry (DOF) folks are seeking 10-15
volunteers to help plant trees as soon as the soils are dry enough. It is estimated that with 15 folks, the walnuts could be
planted in approximately 6 hours. (And there are other species to plant
as well if time allows and folks want to keep going...)
Your
help will hopefully ensure that there will be walnuts available for
future riparian forest buffer projects, which is a huge part of DOF's
conservation efforts in Virginia!
