Right – you’ve read the horse form. And you’ve found three decent selections.
You don’t want to spend more than £10 on the race.
But you do want to construct the three bets so whichever horse wins (how’s that for confidence) delivers the maximum profit possible.
At this point you have two options: pencil and paper or use Spread-5
Good luck with the pencil and paper! Time consuming, not easy and potential errors lurk in the background. That’s assuming you can work out the formulas beforehand AND get the bets on before they jump.
That’s why Spread-5 became more than a red gleam in the programmer’s eyes.
It’s quick, accurate and error-free – as long as you type in the prices accurately.
Let’s look at an example.
- Horse A’s price is 4.8
- Horse B’s price is 7.4
- Horse C’s price is 10.9
We enter those prices into Spread-5 and immediately…
Ooooo… very nice. A potential profit of 129.70% on our tenner’s outlay!
- A’s bet = 4.79. Profit = 12.98
- B’s bet = 3.11. Profit = 12.98
- C’s bet = 2.11. Profit = 12.97
Here’s another example where the second favourite is at least 3 points ahead of its nearest rival.
We will bet the first two favourites only.
- Horse A’s price is 2.4
- Horse B’s price is 4.4
- [Horse C’s price is 7.5 but we won’t include it]
Spread-5 immediately tells us:
- A’s bet = 6.47. Profit = 5.53
- B’s bet = 3.53. Profit = 5.53
A nice 55% profit.
As you know from our two examples, races with similar price-profiles are not hard to find.
A couple of successful races like that and Spread-5 will have almost paid for itself.
