Laying horses: How to bet against favourites and win!

Most punters have heard of lay betting, however the majority fail to make consistent profits laying horses to lose. The old cliche` “Anyone can pick a loser” is true; doing it regularly is a whole different story.

One of the main reasons most punters fail to turn a profit is because they lay horses at the wrong odds. At this point it’s worth bearing in mind that a successful lay bet only pays out one point less commission.

The opposite is true if your lay selection goes on to win, and the reality is you have to pay out your – (stake money x the odds) Stating the obvious I know, but you’d be amazed at how many punters get this woefully wrong.

In this betting tutorial we will look at some of the key form elements you should consider before laying favourites; which incidentally represent the best value for layers in any race.

 Wishing you every success
