Twitter and Facebook have all the current FFGW news, contests, and cute kitten photos... and we need a few people who can help us post content. No expurrience needed!

| Adoption Center Caretakers
Some of our cats are in residence at the Leesburg PetSmart, and we need folks to come in to feed, clean, play with the cats and remind them that they are loved and about to have something great happen!
If you can spare an hour or so a week, you can help cats find their furever homes! (We provide the fish toys!) |
| Fosters
A critical link in adopting the flood of cats and kittens is a foster home - sometimes just a temporary spot to rest their paws until a spot opens at the adoption center, or a place to take a quiet break if the center is overwhelming, or a place for a momma cat to have her babies and care for her family until their ready for adoption - and everything in between.
If you have even a bathroom where a cat can take a break for a few days, or you can open your home for a longer time, we need you! |
| Drivers
Getting cats from our vets to foster homes, from transports to the vet, from fosters to the adoption center... if you can occasionally give a kitty a lift we'll add you to our transport email list - when a request goes out just respond if you can drive (carefully, though - no fishtailing!) |
| Grant Writing
If you have some experience with the grant-writing process, could you help us fish for funds?
It is amazing how much money it takes to take a kitty from intake to adoption - nearly all of it medical expenses - and we are always looking for grants geared to non-profit rescues.

| Website Bios
Have you ever seen an invisible cat? Of course not! It's really hard for cats to be adopted when you can't see them... because they're not on our website!
There are often many kitties at FFGW who have not yet made it to our website. If you can spare a couple of hours a week, or a month, to help us upload pictures and bios, we could make a bigger splash!
If you can help with any of the above things, just toss us a line... we mean, just reply to this email!

| | | Where Have All The Veterinarians Gone?
You've probably experienced it yourself, if you're recently tried to make an appointment for Fluffy - vets are booked up, emergency clinics are not operating 24/7, and the costs... are spiraling upward.
What's going on?
At FFGW, we're feeling it too, as we struggle to schedule spays and neuters, intake exams, and tend to other medical needs. Our partner vets are short-staffed, and several that we use no longer have the capacity to handle rescue clients as they prioritize their staff and time for private patients.
It's an industry-wide problem - and the article linked below tries to explain why there is, indeed, a crisis in the veterinary profession.
We ask for your understanding as we juggle the dozens of appointments we make every week.

You can shop and also help FFGW at the same time, by making your Amazon purchases through our "smile" link!
Use the button on the left for anything Amazon, select the Feline Foundation of Greater Washington as your designated charity. Your price doesn't change but a percentage of your purchase goes to FFGW!
In 2021 we received over $1000 through the Smile program, which donations were enough to provide 3-4 spays or 5-6 neuters - for an entire litter of kittens!

Actually, not that chewy, but "Chewy"!
www.chewy.com is a pet product company specializing in home delivery of all things pet-related. FFGW has a "wish list" which you can find here:
Any products you select from our wish list will be delivered directly to us for use at our adoption center at PetSmart and by our fosters!
If you're new to Chewy, we'll even get a gift certificate for bringing in a new purchaser. It's a great way to help us in our mission to help the kitties!
