| | It's Almost Black (CAT) Friday! |
| | | With all the shopping activity that takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving, the day became one of the most profitable days of the year for retailers and businesses. Because accountants use black to signify profit when recording each day's book entries (and red to indicate a loss), the day became known as Black Friday—or the day when retailers see positive earnings and profits "in the black." As more and more shopping has moved online in the past decade, the Monday after Thanksgiving has also become known as "Cyber Monday" - and effort by virtual stores (and brick and mortar stores with an online presence) to further increase profit by promoting online sales as well.
This unusual year, it is likely that even more shopping will be online instead of in person, and we hope you'll keep FFGW and our cats (not just the black ones) in mind as you shop. |

| | Right on the heels of Black Friday comes Giving Tuesday - a chance to make amends for - ahem - spending a little too much on material things. Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after U.S. Thanksgiving in the United States (this year December 1). It is a global movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world, through one day of coordinated giving. This year, we ask that you give in support of Ziggy, a little kitten that desperately needed a chance - a chance that she got from FFGW. |

Stay tuned for FFGW's Giving Tuesday email, telling Ziggy's story and providing details on how you can become part of this global effort by supporting rescue locally.

| | | We Need Your Help! The Combined Federal Campaign is an effort through the United Way for Federal Employees to participate in charitable giving. Under the auspices of the program, employees can select from a wide array of charities for giving. In past years, a dedicated crew of volunteers has attended events at area Federal agencies, and spoke about FFGW. This year, all charity events will be virtual. We need your help with two things: - Speakers! People who can participate in the virtual events and talk about FFGW, our program, and how important giving thorugh the CFC is to our mission.
- A Videographer! We have the opportunity to have a one-minute video uploaded to the CFC website, so that people can hear about us even outside of these virtual events. If you have some video skills, and can help us put together some video that we already have, a voice over that we'll write, and compliant captioning, we would absolutely love the help!
