Friend,
I come from Ecuador, a small country in South America (about the size of the state of Colorado in the US).
When people hear I was born and raised in Ecuador they correctly assume my country is right on the equator, but they incorrectly assume that it “must have been hot there.”
The city of Quito, where I was born, is over 9,000 feet above sea level. To give you a reference, Boulder, Colorado is only about 5,000 feet above sea level and the average height of mountains in Switzerland is about 4,000.
At Quito's altitude, it's cold most of the time.
When you live on the equator, but that high in the mountains, things don’t work the way they’re supposed to.
For example, my school science books (printed in Spain) said there were four seasons, but that was not my experience as there are no seasons on the equator, just dry periods and rainy periods.
Cooking instructions on the sides of boxes never worked. Pasta didn’t take seven minutes to cook, but over three times as long, and if you went a minute too long it would become an unrecognizable mush.
I grew up knowing I couldn’t trust written instructions, and that I had to test all information and tweak it for it to work!
This skepticism regarding information stayed with me as I grew into an adult, and it influenced my approach to Feng Shui. I didn't just believe everything I learned about this art – I tested and tweaked the information I received to make sure it worked.
I used the healing principles of other ancient Chinese healing arts, such as acupuncture, to put together a system of Feng Shui that worked every time in delivering a dream home and a happy life. And then I tested it in:
The Northern Hemisphere
The Southern Hemisphere
The Equator
