Dear Friend,

This year, every single thing I got for the holidays was something I wanted very much. I made sure of it. I actually told people what I wanted. 

Rather than letting them "surprise" me — and risk having to deal with the uncomfortable feeling of giving thanks for things I didn't want or like — I simply tell them what I want.

I do this, partly, because I'm a hard person to shop for, I admit it. But I also do it as a spiritual practice.

You don't get what you don't ask for!

Here's the thing: if you ask for what you want, you might not get everything on your list... but if you don't even ask for the things you want, the chances of getting them drop down drastically. 

It's the same with life. If you ask for what you want, your chances of getting those things are much higher than if you don't.
