I was supposed to send you an email Wednesday, but life got in the way.

Instead of writing and sending you an email to tell you about my new book — to be published (Nov. 21) — I went to the home improvement store with my youngest son (almost 19) to shop for the materials to build a tree bench. You can see him in the photo above hard at work.

Our maple tree had outgrown its bench and it was in bad need of replacement.

What can I say? "Fun first, work next" is my motto. And these days, it seems nothing is more fun than when one of the boys agrees to spend time with me.
