3 Profitable LAY Strategies
(YOU can use TODAY)

These simple methods really do produce the goods!

Lay strategy 1: Favourites
Favourites can be profitable to lay as long as you indentifie the rights ones. Those animals who face stiff competition, are up in the handicap, distance, and class are all worth closer scrutiny. This plan teaches you how to find and confidently bet against favourites.

Lay strategy 2: Two for the Price of One
Reducing liability on lay bets is fundamental to long term profits.  Laying a horse at (6.0) that ultimately wins hurts much more than laying a horse at (2.0). But by using DUTCHING techniques we can lower the risk by spreading the liability over more than one selection.

If you can lay two selections at 6.0, you have effectively layed the pair of them at 2/1.
it's all about the percentages, and there are features on the Betfair site will help you do this, even if you struggle with calculating percentages.

How do you work out the £ - AMOUNT you'll lay the TWO selections for? The key is to lay BOTH for the same amount, not stake, not liability, but PAYOUT.

Select two horses as if you were just going to lay them at 4.4 and 6.4. Click on the word PAYOUT. A box pops up, choose to enter £20 for the payout.

By using the "Payout" button, Betfair has calculated the stakes for you to lay these two selections to a max payout (including stake) to a liability of £20.

in this example that would  -

Horse 1 stake £4.55 @ 4.4 the liability = £15.47
Horse 2 stake £3.13 @ 6.4 the liability = £16.90

The "What If" position shows us that were we to confirm this bet we would stand to lose £12.35 if either of the SELECTIONS won the race, but win £7.68 should any other horse win. Effectively we have layed the two AGAINST the field.

Lay strategy 3: Lay For A Place
Place market odds on the betting exchanges are much lower than the win market odds. When looking for potential LAY selections, pay attention to horses who rarely, if ever place.

If you can OBTAIN LOWER ODDS you can pick up value lay bets. Stick with races only paying out on 2 or 3 places, and horse facing rivals who win and place regularly under the race conditions being assessed. Watch out (avoid) All Weather races they can be trappy, especially with horses returning to same course.
