Wishing you joy and peace this season!
I'm guessing that many of you are busily getting ready for the holidays, so I thought you might enjoy the painting (above) by El Greco, and T. S. Eliot's meditation on the "Journey of the Magi" from the point of view of one of the wise men. Here is how it begins:"A cold coming we had of it, Just the worst time of the year For a journey, and such a long journey: The ways deep and the weather sharp, The very dead of winter.' And the camels galled, sorefooted, refractory, Lying down in the melting snow . . " Hear the rest.
I've also linked to a page of Christina Rossetti's Advent poetry, including my favorite musical rendition of "In the Bleak Midwinter" in case you missed that last year.
Because we are at the holidays, this week's blog post is a review and giveaway of some goodies from Third Day Naturals. You can read all about it and enter at Doing What Matters.
For the remainder of this month, we are offering the wonderful George Herbert poetry devotional and study guide, Working it Out by Joseph Womack on sale for $5 off. This is a lovely gift, and also a good choice for a book or study group.
I'll be taking a few days off in the coming week, but we will continue to check email and fill orders. You'll know I'm back when you see the next post on the blog! If all goes as planned, I'll be writing about planning for next year in a way that helps you make time for things that matter.
Blessings and joy, Janice Campbell |
