15 April 2020
Dear Friends,
We remain in this very odd time of pandemic and quarantine, and it still feels new. Have you been able to find a pleasant routine for this season? For our family, and possibly for yours, life during the past few weeks has slowed to a pace that our grandparents would probably consider normal. Little windows of time have opened up in each day, and we have a choice of how to use them. There's no place to go in the afternoon, and evening are wide open for reading, gardening, creative projects, and more. I am trying to be purposeful about how I use this gift of time, but I find myself feeling distracted and as if I've misplaced something.
I think I'm missing the yearly homeschool conferences — not just the income, though that is a significant loss, but re-connecting with good friends we've made among the other speakers and exhibitors. I miss the chance of meeting you, answering questions, talking with teens who are using Excellence in Literature, and all of the fun interactions we can have at live conferences.
One bright spot is the GHC Online Conference that is scheduled for this week. Ordinarily, we'd be on the road today, driving toward Cincinnati with a big fat carload of books, but not this year. Although the physical conference wasn't possible, GHC has rather miraculously pulled together a major online conference. It's not just audio recordings, it's in video, and most of us recorded directly from our homes. Since I recorded in my home office, you'll get to see some of my bookshelves;-). You can register for free (see below!).
Like many of the GHC exhibitors, I've also put my conference specials online at EverydayEducation.com, and those will remain up through the normal conference season. I will miss seeing you at conferences, but I hope you remain safe and healthy. For those who have been impacted by this virus, whether through illness, job loss, or otherwise, I pray comfort and peace, and a swift return to stability.
Wishing you peace,
Janice Campbell

| Homeschool 101
Have you wondered what a day looks like in Charlotte Mason-style homeschooling? In this helpful article, my daughter-in-law, Anya, offers a tour through her AmblesideOnline.org-inspired day. You'll even find a downloadable PDF adaptation of the article that is designed for families who find themselves unexpectedly homeschooling due to the coronavirus. Please feel free to share this with families who might need a bit of encouragement.

These include- The six-volume set of 1857 McGuffey Readers for just $65
- Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting print/ebook bundle for $35

We hope to get back to seeing you in person soon, but for now, I hope these discounts help. |

Quarantine Reading List
When presented with a new experience, the committed reader tends to wonder, “What can I read that will shed light on this event, place, or experience?” It can be oddly comforting to walk through an unfamiliar experience with a fictional character, so I've created a short list of classics and other books in which characters are affected by an epidemic or plague. I hope you'll find something interesting there!
