Euro 2020 start tonight!

That means our Euro betting challenge starts tonight.

Please note that the Copa America starts on Sunday night, so those bets will be added into our challenge from Sunday onwards.


Instructions for the Challenge

* Bet using a starting bank of £100
* All bets and stakes will be outlined in each e-mail
* You can use any bookmaker you choose. I like to use Betfair and Paddy Power. I'll stick to Betfair for this.


BETTING TONIGHT:


20:00 - Turkey v Italy

Bet 1: Italy to win (1.50 on sportsbook and 1.54 on the Betfair exchange) 
Stake: £6 of the £100 bank

Bet 2: Both teams to score - Yes (2.38 on the Betfair Sportsbook, 2.50 on the Betfair exchange)
Stake: £2 of the £100 bank

BETTING ANALYSIS:

The first thing that we need to take into account here, is that this match is being played in Rome. What that means is that in theory, this is a home game for Italy even though the fixture is listed as an away game for Italy. Home advantage is always a factor!

Looking at the record of both teams: in recent friendlies and WC qualification, there has been nothing but wins for Italy and wins/draws for Turkey.

Italy haven't conceded an international goal in 9 games in a row with the central defence and goalkeeping department being very strong (Chiellini, Bonucci and Donnarumma). 

Turkey are solid but also not shy of goals. I've put in a small second bet of "Both to score" just in case. . The Turkish defence will be of slight concern to them. They do concede goals based on their previous opponents strength in the last two years of international competition.

Overall, I expect a tight game but I do expect Italy to triumph - especially being the home side in this opening fixture.

I have kept bets and stakes relatively low and safe especially because it is the opening fixture.
