Subject: QSO Today Podcast New Year's resolutions in Octoboer 2024

Dear Friend,

There is never a dull moment in Israel, our tiny country, smaller than New Jersey, that seems to capture the World's attention. Two days of Rosh Hashana and the Sabbath in a row, preceded by an Iranian ballastic missle attack caused me to not finish the next episode of QSO Today Podcast. I heard 15 interceptions or our anti-ballastic missle system while waiting out the attack in my safe room.

I was completely disconnected from the news and everything else for the last three days. What a wonderful experience causing me to re-evaluate the value of being a news junkie for the last year at the expense of the ham radio and music that I love. I have lots of projects on my workbench to do, and music to make - a better place for my attention.

My Jewish new-year's resoluton, is to disconnect from all of the news feeds, podcasts, and YouTubes that feed this addiction. I discovered that while I have many responsibilities and opportunities - none of them involve advising the folks in charge of the World, on how to proceed with the knowledge and insight that I have aquired over the last 67 years. It also appears that my cadre of friends face similar disappointment. Our world leaders will have to rely on others for wise counsel.

Still there is a collection of 520 episodes of QSO Today in the catalog. Please find one that you have not yet enjoyed, or revisit an episode that you especially enjoyed. Look for Episode 521, next week!

If you are getting our podcast, or your other favorite podcasts, with commercials inserted by your podcast provider, then look at getting a Podcasting 2.0 podcast app for your smartphone or computer. I still listen to about 20 podcasts (no maybe a lot less) a week using my Podverse app, grateful to have commercial free listening. Here is a link to Podcasting 2.0 Apps.

I often get reader suggestions for interviews with hams that I have already interviewed. You can check to see if I have already made this interview for you by going to www.qsotoday.com and putting in the call sign of the amateur radio operator that you are looking for in the search box in the top right corner of the home page. There are complete listings of all interviews under the Podcast menu item at the top of the QSO Today website homepage.

Use the links below my signature to look through the hundreds of QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo videos that are hosted online and playable with our embedded video player. No commercials, just great content.

If you would like to be a future guest or want to recommend a guest please reply to this email with your suggestions.

I will be back next week with a new interview on the commercial free, listener supported, QSO Today Podcast.
