Dear Friend
I feel like I am living in a bubble. The rest of the World is going on around me, as I work on all of my projects including the Expo, well into the middle of the night. If it were not for a few afternoons helping Karen get to the pool with her new fiberglass cast on her arm, I would never leave my home office. I forgot how nice it is to float on my back for an hour, keeping pace with her on her kick board, as we talk.
I am blessed to be working with an amazing team of people, just now, as we get closer to the opening of the QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo. Brad Grob, was my roommate here in Israel, almost 40 years ago, when we were students. He is a very successful marketing consultant in Los Angeles and just moved here. Brad is an amazing resource and friend. Emanuela Petrelli, is handling exhibitors and social media. Ask Emanuela anything about fast and expensive Italian cars. Rachel Pearson is in charge of speakers. I have known Rachel since she was a youngster. She is now a busy mother. Give her any task and it is done before I am finished assigning it. Colleen Bamberger holds up all of the other loose ends in the office. Finally, George Zafiropoulos, KJ6VU, is an amazing sounding board and help with the speakers as well. Together, we will pull this off.
My apologies to my blind ham friends. I admit, it did not occur to me that the platform that we are using may not be "blind friendly". Thanks to Dan Beaver, KA4DAN, for bringing this to my attention. As a result, we will make it possible for blind hams to get all of the speakers in an easy to screen read format on the day of the Expo. We will also create a simple exhibitor page with links to their chat so that blind hams can access their favorite exhibitors directly. Thank you Dan for the gentle kick.
I still need advice on if we need moderators on the linked radio channels that we are using for the Expo. Please send me a message if you have ideas.
Carl Luetzelschwab, K9LA, was my guest in Episode 37, over 5 years ago. Since Carl will be one of over 60 speakers in the Expo, I thought to bring him back in this newly re-mastered audio track. It was updated by Ben Bresky. Carl's story is timeless and interesting.
Thanks for listening. Stay safe and be careful out there.
73, Eric 4Z1UG
