I've been doing music for about 16 years now.. 14 Years FULL TIME but I'm just now getting to the place that I wanted to get to 10 years ago...
I really had to sit back and think about this the other day. Part of me felt ashamed that it took me this long & the other part of me was proud that I've been doing it this long. I get a lot of producers and artists that hit me up and ask me how to get to the point they can make music FULL TIME. I always reply with ONE THING.....
"How much are you willing to sacrifice".
The ability to withstand pain for long periods of time is what creates growth. If you work out you know a lot about that. The hardest thing to get over isn't the workout... It's getting your brain accustomed to doing the workout consistently. It's the same with music or anything that seems impossible to attain.
I'm not gonna lie to you. If you got a wife/husband/family, they may feel neglected. If you have friends you'll slowly begin to feel ostracized & have an inability to relate. You're no longer a "Normal Person" mentally. Unless you have an amazing support sytem than you probably don't need this email.
BUT!! If you're a normal person like me.. People won't understand. Family will call it a pipe dream (which isn't wrong) etc etc..
Jay-Z said something powerful in a hot 97 interview 10 years ago
"They're just projecting.. They're putting things that they don't believe that they can do on you"
Belief in self is built upon actions. Take one step a day and you will end up at a destination... Maybe not THE desirable destination but somewhere closer to it. Bless Up!
