Music is interesting when you commit to doing it on a daily basis & in mass. You have to really dig into your emotions & creativity and paint in color. It's been about 10 years since I've been in a space where I can make 2 to 6 beats a days. I've been doing that per month for the past 5 years to be honest.
It's a challenge that I'm proposing to artists as well. I always tell artists to think of themselves like an athlete. Do you think that you'll have a good jumper or a run the dash at a certain speed if you don't practice it every day? Lebron still practices every day & he's literally the best.
For some reason a lot of artists have this belief that if they take their time on music it makes it better... To be honest in my opinion it just took a long time for most artists to make trash music lol. How do you expect to learn how to properly portray art if you don't constantly create & put out 1 album every 2 years like it's 2002. Even the artists that did that back then made 200 songs to fine tune that album.
The simplicity of hip hop has created a belief to rappers that they can take their time but the best in the world know that with the time they take they have to perfect. I worked with Kendrick Lamar back when he was K. Dot. I was in a garage studio working as an engineer back in like 2007-8 & he sounded like a baby wayne... But in the time he spent in the studio (2 hours or more) he made 5-7 different songs. He was perfecting his craft and experimenting with the colors that made him today.
I say this to say.. GTF Off your ass & create & check out the beat of the day "Dark Night" when you get a chance!
