Coming back to Valentines, did you know:

The colour red and the heart shape first started showing up in medieval art during the 14th and 15th century.
While most people send out nice messages to wish their loved ones, Victorian-era people at times used this day to turn down a suitor --> this was called the Vinegar Valentine 🤭

TECHNICAL NEWS

Launching of Employment and Financial Data Survey- Dec 2023

The Financial Services Commission (the “Commission”) is launching the Employment and Financial Data Survey - Dec 2023 to collect data on employment, Income Statement and Balance Sheet.

IMF MFS Q4 2023

The deadline to submit the IMF MFS Survey Q4 2023 is 26^th February 2024.

Mauritius and India launch RuPay and Unified Payments Interface Linkage

This new payment infrastructure will enable customers of participating banks to make seamless and secure payments both in Mauritius and in India. RuPay cards issued in Mauritius will be accepted at ATM and Point of Sales (POS) terminals in India, and Indians will be able to make UPI QR transactions at participating merchants in Mauritius.

With this connectivity, an Indian traveler to Mauritius will be able to pay a merchant in Mauritius using UPI. Similarly, a Mauritian traveler will be able to do the same in India using the Instant Payment System (IPS) app of Mauritius. Further, with the adoption of RuPay technology, the MauCAS card scheme of Mauritius will enable banks in Mauritius to issue RuPay cards domestically. FSC issues a new Regulatory Framework for Spot Commodity Market and its Intermediaries

The First Schedule of the Financial Services Act has been amended by the Financial Services (Amendment of Schedule) Regulation 2024, for the purpose of adding new financial business activities and the Financial Services (Consolidated Licensing and Fees) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2024 have been issued by the FSC to also provide for applicable processing and annual fees for the spot commodity-related services. Please refer to the attached communique.

The FATF Annual Report 2022-2023 sets out the achievement of the FATF to deliver on its mandate and strategic priorities to prevent criminals and terrorists from abusing the international financial system and strengthen the foundations for sustainable and more inclusive economic development.

On the menu: deep vacuum, carpet shampoo, and cleaning of tiled floor, desks, PC screens, telephone, windows, blinds, amongst others. Consequently, please:

Tidy and clear up your desk, storing your belongings (pen, diary, laptop, etc...) in your drawer;
Remove all documents and boxes on, underneath and around your desk.

Regional Networking Event

Kate and Khushboo attended a regional network event organised by the Mauritius Business Network.

Andersen | CSR Event

Andersen organised its CSR event in collaboration with Children Foundation, an NGO dedicated to providing value-based education to children with special needs.

It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and heartfelt connections.

With around 60 children ranging from 6 to 20 years old under the care of Children Foundation, our team distributed gifts and essential school materials whilst also creating lifelong memroies with the kids.
