Standard Bank Communique

Monday 6 May will be a Bank holiday in the United Kingdom. Hence, no payments in GBP can be effected for value date 6 May 2024.

Bank of Mauritius: Release of Quarterly International Investment Position (IIP)

The Bank of Mauritius has released the first quarterly IIP of Mauritius. The IIP provides at a point in time, the value and composition of the country’s external financial assets and liabilities that are claims of residents on non-residents, gold bullions held as reserves assets, and the liabilities of residents to non-residents.

To note that the GBC sector has consistently held a positive net IIP since it was first estimated in 2009. The net IIP of the GBC sector increased from Rs1,010 billion as at end-March 2022 to Rs1,609 billion as at end-December 2023. GBCs’ external asset and liability positions dominate the country’s 3 Also referred to as Global Business License Holders (GBLHs). 4 IIP, representing 77 per cent of the country’s net IIP as at end-2023, while the non-GBC sector held a net IIP of Rs486 billion. The external asset and liability positions of GBCs are mainly contracted as Direct investment assets and Direct investment liabilities, respectively.

Communication with Taxpayers e-tax account

The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) wishes to inform taxpayers that it has introduced a new system of communication called the “e-tax account” and same is available through the MRA Taxpayer Portal on www.mra.mu. In addition to the existing facilities available on the MRA Taxpayer Portal such as electronic submission of returns, statements, and payment of tax, this new system of communication is expected to improve and enhance interaction with MRA. Refer to the attached communique.

A Level 4 cleaning is planned on Saturday 4^{th May 2024} as from 8:30 a.m.

On the menu: deep vacuum, carpet shampoo, and cleaning of tiled floor, desks, PC screens, telephone, windows, blinds, amongst others. Consequently, please:

Tidy and clear up your desk, storing your belongings (pen, diary, laptop, etc...) in your drawer;
Remove all documents and boxes on, underneath and around your desk.

Please note that the cleaning team will not be able to perform the cleaning appropriately if your working space is untidy.
