On August 12th, the world will be celebrating International Youth Day. Endorsed by the United Nations in 1999, its purpose is to inspire and encourage leaders of countries to be aware of issues related to youth. 🤩

The International Youth Day has been set up to encourage others to pay more attention to the needs of modern young people as they are equipped for becoming the future leaders of the world. 🌟

This year's theme is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development." Young people are leading the internet revolution! 3 out of 4 individuals aged 15-24 are online, surpassing all other age groups. They're not just scrolling; they're innovating for a sustainable future! 🌱

TECHNICAL NEWS

Russia and Belarus Payment Policy Updates


In 2023, HSBC made the decision to discontinue processing commercial payments to or from Russia and Belarus, with very limited exceptions.


What this means:

If your business is involved in any of the following activities, you are required to no longer use HSBC products and services (including sending or receiving payments) for:

  • Supply or sale of goods to Russia or Belarus

  • Transport of goods or provision of logistics services to Russia or Belarus

  • Any of the above to a third country or intermediary, where you know, or suspect Russia or Belarus is the intended destination

Any activity processed through HSBC involving Russia or Belarus may be held for further review. Additionally, HSBC no longer clears RUB currency for customers aince May 1, 2024. After this date, you will no longer have access to RUB currency flows through any HSBC accounts or platforms. These changes are due to evolving regulations.


FSC Public Consultation - Draft Insurance (Insurance Aggregators) Regulations


In line with its strategy to sustain the growth of the fintech ecosystem in Mauritius, the Financial Services Commission, Mauritius (FSC) is proposing to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for Insurance Aggregators, which will give a boost to the insurance sector namely through the involvement of new and innovative operators. You may refer to the attached communiqué.

We would like to remind everyone to please use the toilets responsibly. The cleaning staff are not here to clean up after you. Please be considerate of your female colleagues who use the facilities after you. Let's all do our part to keep the restrooms clean and tidy.

This is a gentle nudge to turn off the lights 💡 in the open spaces, restrooms, and common areas on all levels when leaving the office or meeting rooms. Additionally, please remember to turn off the air conditioning. The last person leaving the office at the end of the day must ensure that the lights and the air conditioning are turned off. Your efforts to conserve energy will contribute to a more sustainable future. 🍃

Use of mess rooms


All staff members are welcome to use the mess rooms on Levels 2,3 and 4 during lunchtime. These spaces are designed for your comfort and convenience.


If you need to book a mess room for a specific event or gathering, please send an email to all staff 24 hours in advance. Clearly state the date, time, purpose of your booking and the name of your team.


Ensure a 'Reserved' sign indicating the duration of the reservation is placed in the mess room.

We aim to ensure fair access to these shared spaces for everyone. Thank you 🙏 for your cooperation.
