August 19th marks World Photography Day, a global celebration of the art, craft, and science of photography. This annual observance commemorates the day in 1839 when the French government announced the invention of the daguerreotype, one of the earliest photographic processes, as a "free gift to the world."


Photography has come a long way since then, evolving from cumbersome equipment and lengthy exposure times to the instant, high-quality images we can capture with our smartphones today.


Whether you're an amateur enthusiast or a seasoned professional, World Photography Day is an opportunity to appreciate the power of visual storytelling and the impact it has on our lives and work.


💡 Did You Know? 💡

👉The first permanent photograph was created in 1822 by French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce.

👉The word "photography" comes from Greek, meaning "drawing with light."

👉The first digital camera was developed by Kodak engineer Steven Sasson in 1975.

👉Instagram, launched in 2010, now sees over 95 million photos uploaded daily.

General Alert: Fake endorsement by celebrities


The Financial Services Commission (FSC) urges consumers of financial services and products to beware of fake news articles and deepfake videos of public figures that endorse investment products or investment platforms. You may refer to the attached communiqué.


FSC’s statement on Hindenburg Research’s report dated 10 August 2024


The Financial Services Commission has taken cognizance of the contents of the report published by Hindenburg Research on 10 August 2024 wherein mention has been made of 'Mauritius-based shell entities' and Mauritius as a 'tax have'’. The FSC wishes to highlight that the legislative framework in Mauritius does not permit creation of shell companies. You may refer to the attached statement.

Kindly note a general office cleaning on Level 4 is scheduled on Saturday 17th August as from 8.30 am.


• Kindly tidy and clear your desk

• Kindly remove all documents and boxes underneath and around your desk.


The cleaning team will deep vacuum, shampoo the carpet and clean tiled floor, desks, PC screens, telephones, windows, blinds etc.


Please note that the cleaning team will not be able to perform the cleaning appropriately if your working space is untidy.

Family Fun Day

Wow, what a blast we had at Hua Lien last Sunday! From giggles at the Fun Games Corner to grooves with Anonym, it was non-stop fun for all ages. Our token challenge champ Stephanie hit the jackpot with over 200 tokens - talk about a lucky streak! Tummies were happy thanks to our fab food stalls, and the teamwork behind the scenes was nothing short of magic. ⭐🤩

Token Initiative: And the winners are...


Congratulations to Mushirah Meer (Team Amber, ITL) and Ally Durgauhee (Techgenic), the winners of our quarterly Token Initiative! This program recognises employees who have shown exceptional dedication and hard work over the past quarter.
