TECHNICAL NEWS

Bank Closure - February 2025 Public Holidays


AfrAsia Bank will be closed on:

  • Tuesday, February 11, 2025 (Thaipoosam Cavadee)

  • Wednesday, February 26, 2025 (Maha Shivaratree)


During these public holidays, all financial services will be suspended, including:

  • Securities transactions

  • Foreign exchange deals

  • Transaction processing and settlements


All pending transactions will be processed on the next business day. Please note that the central bank, stock exchange, depository, and other financial institutions will also be closed on these dates.

For urgent matters, clients may contact their Relationship Manager or refer to the Bank's digital banking platforms for available services. Normal operations will resume on the following business days:

  • Wednesday, February 12, 2025

  • Thursday, February 27, 2025


Bank Holiday on February 11, 2025


Standard Bank Mauritius informs its valued clients that all offices will be closed on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in observance of a national bank holiday. Please be advised that no payment processing will be conducted on this date. Regular banking operations will resume on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

The MPC of the Bank of Mauritius raises the Key Rate by 50 basis points


The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank has unanimously voted to raise the Key Rate by 50 basis points from 4.00 per cent to 4.50 per cent per annum at its meeting on 4th February 2025. The next meetings of the MPC during the year are scheduled for 07 May, 13 August and 12 November. ITL attended the MOL Charitable Trust Call for Proposal 4 event at Preskil Hotel, where 15 impactful charitable projects with various NGOs have been selected for 2025. 👏


The MOL Charitable Trust was established to support social and environmental projects in line with its mission, with a strong focus on initiatives in the southeast of Mauritius. 🌱💙 Through this Trust, MOL is committed to restoring and protecting the natural environment and empowering local communities across Mauritius.

Mini Bowling League 2025: A Striking Success! 🎳🏆


The atmosphere was electric on the Tribeca Bowling lanes as ITLians Bowling Club hosted an Internal Mini Bowling League exclusively for newcomers in the club on January 13 and January 20, 2025 to kick start the year.


The event brought together six enthusiastic participants—Rahul, Avneesh, Dinesh, Jayesh, Warren Murugan, and Hansley Perrine—all ready to showcase their bowling skills and enjoy some friendly competition.


After two intense days of bowling and 6 games later, Rahul emerged as the winner, delivering a stellar performance that kept the audience on edge. Avneesh secured the runner-up position, proving to be a strong contender throughout the competition. The league was not just about winning but also about fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and a fun-filled experience for everyone involved. And lastly to gather the experience of playing under strict competition conditions.


🏆 Prizes & Recognition:


• Winner: Rahul walked away with a brand-new vacuum cleaner, generously sponsored by Red Line Ltd.


• Runner-Up: Avneesh received a cash prize of Rs. 1,000 in recognition of his impressive performance.
