In the United States, Friday the 13th causes retail sales to dip by $700 to $800 million on average. Meanwhile, in Germany, this day has been designated as Smoke Detector Day since 2006. Clever marketing has even turned it into an opportunity: "Friday the 13th could be your lucky day—if there’s a fire, and you’ve installed smoke detectors." A touch of dark humour, perhaps?

Over in Greece and Spain, it’s Tuesday the 13th that’s considered unlucky. But here at Cortijo, we think it’s time to redefine the day’s meaning and offer you something truly special ...
