Subject: Have you checked the calendar? Time is running out.

Hi Friend,

We will keep this brief because time is short. We want to make sure you know that any donation you give to Friendly Water for the World before midnight on December 31st is tax-deductible. 2021 is almost over, but there is still time to invest in next year while saving money this year. The following is taken from the IRS website (we always recommend you seek the guidance of a financial professional).

Individuals can claim a deduction of $300 on their 2021 federal income tax and married individuals filing a joint return can claim $600. Under temporary law, taxpayers won't need to itemize deductions on their tax returns to take advantage of the deduction. The deduction lowers both adjusted gross income and taxable income. Individuals who do itemize may choose to claim an even larger deduction.

Whether it is $300 or $30, your donation will have an impact across multiple villages and countries next year. These are some of the technologies that you can help build:

  • One interlocking stabilized soil brick for $0.23

  • Enough soap to keep hands clean at a school for $70

  • $120 to purchase and maintain one new water filter

  • 1,000 bricks for $230 builds the walls of one rainwater catchment tank

  • A portable brick-making press for $1,200

  • $1,900 to build a 25,000-liter rainwater catchment tank

Your donation funds the programs that build these technologies and it creates income. $600 of the rainwater catchment tank goes directly to the local masons who build them. Bricks are bought from our village partners to build classrooms and toilets. And they sell soap at the local market, to businesses, and to schools.

So, don't wait. Take advantage of tax savings before midnight on December 31st and build a better future with your new neighbors and friends in Matsakha, Kambiri, and Munamoomba.
