Subject: You Are Making a Difference
"I just want to say
I am so thankful for your web site.
I have a friend who was considering abortion so I sent her to
your web site. She called me around two in the morning, crying.
Anyway, it changed her mind.
"I'll be praying for your ministry. Thanks so much!"
-- Jenny, Idaho
Dear Friend,
Jenny's friend is just one of the many whom you have helped through your support for our ministry.
Only God knows how many more women, men, and children we have helped. But to benefit even a single soul, like Jenny's friend, changes the entire world … through the baby not aborted, the mother spared a traumatic and often unwanted experience, the family able to raise and love the child, and future generations who will be born and positively affected by all these interrelated lives.
Did you see Jimmy Stewart in the classic It's a Wonderful Life last month? (One of my favorites!)
If so, you know that it is really true: when you save a life you change the world.
But it is not only in preventing abortions that our work saves lives. By raising awareness about the epidemic of unwanted, coerced or even violently forced abortions, as well as post-abortion trauma and pain, we have helped protect the rights of women at risk of undergoing unwanted, unnecessary and unsafe abortions. By spreading the word about the need for post-abortion healing, we have brought new hope to women, men and families hurt by abortion.
To see more about how you have helped us change the world during the last year, please read our year-end report.
As you will see, much to the chagrin of pro-abortionists, we are impacting the abortion debate in ways far out of proportion to the size of our small organization-with only three staff and an annual revenue under $135,000 per year.
The New York Times, public television reporters, and even Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg are bending over backwards to warn the public to ignore all of that research coming out of the Elliot Institute.
Their message: "Of course abortion benefits women. Abortionists have told us so. These anti-choice fanatics can't be trusted … even if their research did somehow get published in top medical journals."
Right. And all those anti-smoking studies are exaggerations too.
After years of having our research ignored by major media outlets, it is telling that they have now decided to break the silence and shift into attack mode. Indeed, the level of their bias is reflected in the fact that these attacks still exclude mention of any specific findings of our research-including evidence of widespread coercion, which debunks the myth of "choice." Instead, the studies themselves are glossed over in the rush to bring pro-abortion "experts" forward to reassure the public that our results are simply untrustworthy.
All that aside, we need your help for 2008.
People like you are making all the difference. The research, publications and outreach/educational materials (such as the ad above) described in our year-end report exist only because of the approximately 320 donating partners who supported us this past year.
Your contribution of $30, $300, or $3,000 will make a difference. And with our small budget, your donations will have a greater impact than they might at a larger organization.
You are making a difference. People like you, who generously give us more than a nod of good-will, are the ones who make everything we do possible.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my appeal. You, your family, and your special intentions are in our prayers. Please keep us in your prayers as well.
Sincerely yours for Life in Christ,
David C. Reardon, Ph.D.
Director
P.S. Please respond today, before you are distracted by all your other daily business and family obligations. Your help today will help us to document the truth ... to tell the truth ... to help women harmed or threatened by abortion ... and to proclaim Christ's healing. Thank you for being our partner in this great ministry.
