Timing is everything! Just a little advance planning will help you get much more from your time, energy and financial investement in your education and outreach efforts. It helps to synchronize your media messages and other activies, pulications and special events with national and seasonal events.

During these times, the media will already be covering these events and many will appreciate a new story angle and supporting facts. Below are just a few examples and resources to help you plan advertising, education public relations and other outreach programs and projects during a time when individuals, organizations and/or the media are addressing related topics. Check our events calander often for timely information that will help in the short term and in planning ahead.

September Events

"It's amazing how we can function so well in front of others, while suffering like that." --survivor of post-abortion suicide attempt

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week, and today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Chances are, there are teens and women in your own circles who are at risk for abortion, which is linked to higher rates of suicide, and also for coerced and unwanted abortions, which lead to even higher risks. There are also many teens, women and men and families suffering after abortion and who are at higher risk of suicide.

Individuals and families who are at risk or already hurting need to know that they are not alone in what they are feeling, that we care, and that help is available.

This is an urgent, yet senstive, issue. Please learn more and help in any way you can.

September is also:

* National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month -- abortion is linked to increased substance abuse

* Marriage Health Month -- abortion has a negative impact on relationships

* National Grandparents Day -- Senior citizens should know about the risks to their grandchildren, and women of all ages may still be hurting from the loss of their child or grandchild.

How you can help:

* Write a letter to the editor

* Share our healing business cards, flyers and bookmarks with others, or publish them in bulletins, newsletter and local publications

* Write a letter to your legislator

Send a letter to your pastor, along with the Portraits of Coercion flyer and What Every American Needs to Know

* Run our "Stuffed Rabbit" radio ad, which focuses on teen suicide.

October and November Events

"Coerced abortion is explicitly recognized as a violation of basic rights and principles." --United Nations Population Fund

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It's a good time to raise awareness of the violence, abuse and coercion that often preceedes abortion.

Pregnancy-related discrimination and abuse are injustices in their own right, and are only aggravated by abortion on demand.

Coercion is common and can escalate to violence. Homicide is the leading killer of pregnant women, with many women being kileld or assaulted for refusing to abort. Many women in America and around the world who want to have their babies have been or are being coerced, deceptively informed or even forced into unwanted, traumatic abortions with unfathomable aftereffects.

The UN recognizes coerced abortion as a human rights abuse.

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Throughout October and November, national media will be covering these issues. It's a good opportunity to draw attention to the risks that abortion poses to all women. These risks range from pregnancy-related discrimination and abuse to coerced and forced abortion ... to abuse, negligence and malpractice by medical professionals, counselors and others in authority ... to the risks of abortion and the heartbreak of post-abortion issues.

How you can help:

* Send out a news release

* Hold a prayer vigil

* Write letters to editors, pastors, legislators and candidates

* Run our free small space ads, domestic violence ad, and other print ads (available in many sizes and formats) in local publications, newsletters and bulletins, or post and distribute them as flyers

* Encourage local Christian radio stations to air our radio ads free of charge, or raise funds to air them as paid ads on local stations

Signature Ad for October and January
A compassionate outreach that educates, too

National Life Chain is Sunday, October 4. This is a good time to display bumper stickers or wear t-shirts that reinforce abortion's harm to both unborn children and women.

You can also run our free small space ads in bulletins, as classified ads and elsewhere. Run our pro-woman/pro-life Signature Ad or other Healing Ads in your local newspaper, newsletter, bulletin or in other free or low-cost publications.

The compassionate Signature Ad will reach many audiences at once. Raise awareness of the risks and harm to those currently at risk of pregnancy- and abortion-related trauma and abuses while also educating the public; advocating for the rights of the unborn and countless women and families at risk of unwanted, coerced and risky abortions; and reaching out those already hurt.

Christmas and Thanksgiving Outreach
A Multi-Faceted Blessing

Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holidays can be very difficult for those facing pregnancy- and abortion-related losses.

For some, there may be pressure to have an unwnated abortion during these difficult econcomic times. For others who have had abortions, there may be a risk of clinical depression, suicide or other problems.

How you can help:

* Offer hope by supporting local healing ministries.

* Distribute informational and encouraging healing bookmarks or business cards.

* Run our free educational and compassionate holiday healing ads.

Take some time to plan a well-timed outreach. You'll get a boost in effectiveness and reach and the possibility of coverage from local, state or national news organizations. And remember that ads are best run repeatedly to have staying-power.
