Last month, we reported that our new study, showing that each abortion increases a woman's risk of premature death by 50 percent, had just been published.

This study is so important because it punctures the myth that "abortion is safer than childbirth." Every day, women and girls are around the world are encouraged or pressured to undergo this dangerous procedure -- a procedure that ends the life of their unborn children and puts them at risk of life-altering physical and psychological problems -- without being told of the possible complications. Just last week, a court in India ruled that an abortion could be performed on a 13-year-old girl who was a victim of rape after a hospital panel told them that abortion was safer for this girl than continuing the pregnancy.
