Recently, the news that reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian is pregnant made the news.

For many young women in situations like Kourtney's, abortion may be presented as their best option--or even their only option. They may be surrounded by people who think that they should abort, even if the young mother herself would rather have her baby. Some may face emotional blackmail, job loss, threats or even violence to get them to abort.

In an interview with People magazine, Kourtney said, "I can't even tell you how many people said, 'Oh, get an abortion.' Like it's not a big deal." But after talking to a supportive doctor, and reading online stories of women struggling after abortion, she knew she couldn't abort.

Although we don't know what web sites Kourtney visited, her story shows how important--and effective--our efforts are.

They're effective because they expose the risk and injustice of widespread unwanted, coerced and forced abortion, and the serious physical and psychological danger of abortion to women--including a higher rate of suicide.

They're effective because they help those who think abortion is best for a pregnant daughter, partner or friend understand that abortion will likely harm--not help--their loved one.

They're effective because they help protect women and girls from abortions that they don't want to have or that can harm them for years to come.

And they're effective because they help stop abortion's assault on unborn babies and their mothers.
