Church Awareness Project

Dear Friend,

This past month we invited you to join the Church Awareness Project and send copies of our Church Leader's Kit to your pastor and other church leaders.

Next month we will be also be holding a special awareness event -- and your church and faith community can be a part of it.

Coerced Abortion Awareness Week will take place Sunday, April 7 through Sunday, April 14. At the bottom of this email you will find links to all the resources to help your church participate.

Few people in our churches have been educated with the whole truth about abortion -- including big-picture evidence that most abortions are unwanted or coerced, not freely chosen; and that abortion harms all involved. They may not be aware of how many people around them are affected by these issues, or how to speak out about abortion in a way that is both truthful and compassionate.

Our churches can and should be the first to offer support to affected or at-risk teens, women, men and families in our pews and in the wider community: those facing a challenging pregnancy or being coerced into an unwanted abortion, and those who are hurting because of a past abortion. We should be the first to advocate for solutions that truly respect both unborn children and their mothers and fathers.

You can be a part of this! We hope you have joined the Church Awareness Project and shared copies of our Church Leader's Kit with your pastor, church leaders and others in your faith community. If we want to make a real change in our churches and communities, we have to start with educating those in leadership positions.

Here Are the Resources You'll Need

The Church Leader's Kit includes a pdf copy of The Jericho Plan: Breaking Down the Walls Which Prevent Post Abortion Healing by Elliot Institute Director Dr. David Reardon. This guide will help your pastor or preacher speak on these issues from the pulpit.

This lets people in the pews know that they are not alone, that help is available and that they will have the support of their entire faith community behind them. Encourage your pastor or preacher to talk on these issues, during Coerced Abortion Awareness Week or any time of the year.

Below you will also find links to activities, ideas and other free Church Awareness Project Resources to use throughout the year (it includes a link to get the Church Leader's Kit if you've already signed up for this project). These resources can be used by individuals and small groups as well.

We encourage you, your faith leaders, and all the members of your church or faith group to participate in the Church Awareness Project and Coerced Abortion Awareness Week. We want to shed light on these hidden issues. This is an opportunity to speak up, defend the rights of others, provide support, and offer help, hope and healing.

About the Church Awareness Project

The Church Awareness Project is an online, evidence-based Elliot Institute project to inform and educate churches that most abortions are unwanted or coerced and about the spiritual and emotional wounds caused by abortion. Our goal is to mobilize churches to speak out, to advocate for the authentic rights of unborn children and their mothers and fathers, and to offer support and healing for those in our churches and communities who are affected by this issue.

Visit the Church Awareness Project Blog for the latest news, resources and updates, and to leave feedback and ideas.

If you haven't joined the Church Awareness Project yet, sign up to receive the free Church Leader's Kit for yourself, your pastor or church leaders, and others in your faith community.
