Autumn-Winter Plan-Ahead Event Calendar
Timely Opportunities, Resources & Tools
Here's a quick snapshot of upcoming events and supporting resources. Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood is gearing up to be even more active in schools this year. (Watch our upcoming newsletters and publications for more on this and related issues.)
We can be proactive in educating individuals and families in our midst. It matters! According to a recent American Life League survey, for the fifth straight year, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, America's largest abortion provider, is closing clinics faster than it is opening new ones.
Below you'll find timely, user-friendly, evidence-based resources from the Elliot Institute to share throughout the school-year with students, parents, educators, outreach groups and others. Parents especially need to know that this is not just another "political" issue - their own kids are at risk.
Book Sale Reminder! Great for Students and Educators
Get special prices on Forbidden Grief (in English and now in Spanish, too, on sale through Aug. 31, 2011), plus Detrimental Effects of Abortion (back-to-school discount through Sept. 15, 2011). Detrimental Effects is the ultimate reference book on abortion's impact. It features a comprehensive directory of published studies with commentary.
This is a valuable resource for students writing papers or giving speeches, or for educators doing lesson plans. You can also spearhead progress by donating copies to school, church and civic libraries ... especially now, while it's on sale!
Highlights of other events, opportunities and supporting resources are listed below. Share the news that most abortions are unwanted or coerced, plus heartbreaking and deadly aftereffects, a multi-faceted assault on the rights and lives of both the unborn and women.
AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
- State Fairs and County Fairs - See our Fair Outreach materials or plan ahead for upcoming events and next year's fairs and festivals.
- Back to School - See links below to share with students, youth groups and educators.
- Teens Page - evidence and resources for youth, parents and educators.
- Teens and Abortion fact sheet.
- Teens and Abortion Special Report
- Donate books to school, church and civic libraries.
- Find more information on theunchoice.com, afterabortion.org and abortionrisks.org
- Preface all discussions and presentations with important new evidence that most (not all, not some, but most) abortions are unwanted or coerced, (see Forced Abortion in America), and that this is an internationally recognized human rights abuse that is -- even under current lax laws -- illegal. (Center Against Forced Abortion) Then, go on to aftereffects, from grief to life-threatening injuries that are literally and figuratively killing women, too.
PLAN AHEAD
- October and January Pro-Life Rallies and Events.
- New Signature Ad - for October or January Pro-Life Events
A Holistic Signature Ad Message Based on Important New Evidence
"For 38 Years, Unwanted or Coerced Abortions Have Endangered the Rights and Lives of Both the Unborn and Woman ... That's 38 Years Too Long"
-
Political Outreach - Voter/Legislator Education - Every election matters, but presidential-year elections offer especially good opportunities to write to or speak personally with candidates.
Challenge "undecideds" and "pro-choice" leaders at all levels with new evidence that most abortions are unwanted or coerced; many forced, plus heartbreaking, injurious and even life-threatening aftereffects. (Women are dying, too.)
Remind them about Forced Abortion in America, that coercion is common and an internationally recognized human rights abuse that is illegal. (Center Against Forced Abortion)
-
Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's Outreach - Holidays are hard for those being pressured to abort or already hurt, as well as families who lost both an unborn child and a daughter, sister or friend.
This is an important time to educate, help and deter. This includes teens, mothers and families at risk or already hurt by pre-abortion abuses and trauma, heartbreak or even suicide during abortion's heartbreaking aftermath. (Teens are especially at risk of coercion and post-abortion issues, including serious injuries or even suicide.)
