Milford Arts Council's Eastbound Theatre opens its fall production of a farce by John Bishop, directed by Kevin Pelkey. The fun and antics include hidden doorways, bumbling inspectors and a maid who is apparently four different people. Murders, mystery and mayhem ensue inside the mansion of the financial backer of a musical flop. Weekends through Sep 30.
Norwalk’s Music Theatre of Connecticut presents this Tony Award winning musical as it opens its 37th MainStage Season. It’s the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons that ran on Broadway from 2005 to 2014 with hit songs including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Weekends through Oct 1 with performances on Thurs at 7pm, Fri & Sat at 8pm, and Sat & Sun at 2pm.
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, this show features gambler Nathan Detroit as he tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile, Nathan’s girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. From the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, this show eventually takes everyone right where they belong. Running Fridays and Saturdays through Oct 14th.
An unexpectedly gritty soul-blues singer and guitarist with outlaw country ethos. Blending a variety of musical traditions, Jacobs creates a distinctive voice and sound of his own punctuated by emotive songwriting and explosive guitar playing. Equally at home playing heartfelt Americana ballads or funky blues rockers, Jacobs is known for his mesmerizing live shows, where his improvisational guitar playing, powerhouse band, and deep reservoir of songs make each night a unique experience.
This inaugural concert celebrating the music of Latin America features a variety of musical traditions and high-level artistry, including INTEMPO teaching artists and advanced students. Lead INTEMPO teaching artist Geo Suquillo and bass instructor Deiker Torrealba perform in the concert as well as students who were finalists in the 2018 Darien’s Got Talent produced by the Darien Arts Center.
Don’t miss the 2019 Tony Award winner Celia Keenan-Bolger as she heads the cast of a “Script in Hand” playreading. Theresa, played by Keenan-Bolger, is a single mother with a rebellious teenage daughter. While working as a cleaner in a church rectory, she begins to rekindle her religious beliefs and searches for validation from the priest. But the troubled priest, questioning his own faith, suddenly leaves the church and returns home to his protective mother. Theresa tracks him down, ultimately changing both of their lives.
