Fairfield University’s Theatre Fairfield presents the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice by one of America's greatest female playwrights. Ruhl tells the tale from her point of view, featuring compelling plot twists and contemporary storytelling techniques. It's a fresh look at a timeless love story.
In this talk, scientist and science writer Ainissa Ramirez, Ph.D., will discuss her new book "The Alchemy of Us" which won the CT Book Award and was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize. The book unfolds how simple inventions shaped society. Ramirez will illustrate how everyday objects had a hand in changing language, politics, and even our bodies.
Victoria Buitron and Ronit Plank will read from their memoirs and fiction and talk about their literary life. Both writers explore cross-culture identity and the challenges of growing up far from parents.
In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's First Folio, Stratford Library hosts the Hudson Shakespeare Company's production of THE BOOK OF WILL by Lauren Gunderson. A lively and funny evening for all!
Local writers and lovers of literature are invited to read original work or someone else’s work in an open mic event. All literary genres are welcome. Light refreshments will be served. Registration required.
