The Bridgeport Pride celebration opens with a reception for the 8th SameSex exhibition, which each year reflects the current zeitgeist of the LGBTQ community, their friends, family, neighbors and allies. At 8pm, the Bridgeport PRIDE Celebration will parade down from the Broad Street steps to McLevy Green, and at 8:45, doors open at the Bijou Theatre, for a Bridgeport PRIDE Variety Show fundraiser. More...

See the East Coast Premiere of this new play by Karina Cochran. Walt and Julia are a promising young couple whose world takes a turn for the worse when Walt discovers the first sign of a terminal illness: a rabbit tail. A meditation on illness, grief, personal transformation, and the frank realities of turning into a rabbit, the play was described by The San Francisco Chronicle as: “Deliciously absurd…The world of this play is strange, and a little silly, but the issues at its heart are life-and-death.”  Above, actors Alexandra Bazan, Jason Peck, and Mike Boland.  More...
Design Night Out: Words

Design Night Out is a free, public event series that happens four times a year between Hartford and Bridgeport for creatives in Connecticut. DNO takes a theme and explores how great design is transforming that theme in Connecticut. July’s theme, “Words,” is focused on the authors, poets and the spoken word. Networking + drinks start at 6:00pm with the panel kicking off at 6:30pm. The three panelists include Cultural Alliance members playwright Ina Anderson, and poet and painter Shanna Melton. Also speaking is author and poet Darlene Asmarah Fernandez and author and professor Eric Lehman. More...

Rich Robinson and Marc Ford join bassist Sven Pipien (all from The Black Crowes) along with lead singer John Hogg (Hookah Brown, Moke), drummer Joe Magistro and guitarist Nico Bereciartua. With three guitarists, Magpie plays loud and hard, drawing on their Black Crowes ancestry as well as the Crowes’ tradition of well-chosen covers. More...

This arts immersion salon, held inside the legendary 1806 Beechwood house, and outside under the 300-year-old Copper Beech, is created by the audience. In exchange for a small donation, you can hang a piece of art, place sculpture in the garden, show a short film, perform a short piece on stage, sell your creative wares, or bring a dish for the table. Science on the Silver Screen San Andreas

Guest scientist Dr. Maureen Long, a seismologist from Yale, whose research includes the structure and evolution of the continental crust, and the dynamics of the inner mantle of the Earth, will introduce the film, watch it with you, and lead a discussion about the science (or lack thereof) shown in the film.  More...

Adam Ant came to fame in the late 70s as the leader of the seminal glam rock band: Adam and the Ants.
