Short Cuts Film Festival 2021

It’s the first ever all-documentary screening of the Short Cuts Film Festival, on view both virtually and live from the Trefz Forum at The Westport Library. Selections are curated from the prestigious Tribeca and SXSW Film Festivals and feature “'Coded', the extraordinary story of gay illustrator J.C. Leyendecker (Winner, Best Documentary Short, Tribeca); 'Change the Name'; 'The Unlikely Fan' (SXSW nominee for Grand Jury Award), and 'Unspoken', a tribute to world-renowned choreographer Paul Lightfoot’s father who he lost during lockdown. East Coast Contemporary Ballet Mi Vida

This is the premiere of ECC's first full-length contemporary ballet. Set in 1950's Cuba, Mi Vida is the intricately woven tale of six artists whose individual and collective lives are as vividly charged as the art they create. Set entirely to the music of Cuban composer and piano virtuoso Ernesto Lecuona, this original production is as full of passion, conflict, romance, and surprises as Lecuona's compositions. Audiences will have three opportunities to hear the musicians of the Greater CT Youth Orchestras Jack Lawrence Fall Concerts.
Concert 1 at 1PM: Five ensembles perform: Steel Pan Orchestra, String Orchestra, Woodwinds Orchestra, Brass Orchestra, Sinfonia Orchestra. Concert 2 at 3:30PM: Steel Pan, Percussion, Jazz, Saxophone, and symphonic music by Virtuosi and Philharmonic Orchestras.
