Danielle Dreilinger: The Secret History of Home Economics

An online discusion with the author of "The Secret History of Home Economics: How Trailblazing Women Harnessed the Power of Home and Changed the Way We Live." Despite some negative connotations, the revolutionary science of home economics expanded the opportunities for women in the twentieth century. These women became chemists and marketers, studied nutrition, health, and exercise, tested parachutes, created astronaut food, and took bold steps in childhood development and education.  More...

Airing of the Quilts

The Museum of Darien will display some of the colorful antique quilts from its renowned collection during a one-day “Airing of the Quilts.” “This is part of a long tradition in America, dating from colonial times when settlers pulled quilts out of storage to air them out in the sun,” said Maggie McIntire, executive director of the Museum. “It will be a great day to just drop in and wander around the Museum to see the colorful quilts from our collection.” More... 
Closing Reception: A Glimpse Ahead

Laurel has one published poetry book "Do You Expect Your Art to Answer?" and another "Daughter of Sky," will be released early next year. What Does It Mean to Be Asian American?

An in-person and live-streamed discussion. These scholars will explore what it means to be Asian American through a wide historic lens, the current wave of anti-Asian discrimination and physical attacks, and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities uniting to join with others to fight racism, and create an inclusive and equitable society. Professor Erika Lee is Director of the Immigration History Research Center at the University of Minnesota. Professor Jason Chang teaches History and Asian American Studies at UConn. More...

The series continues with a duo who's vocals are compared to Janis Joplin and Grace Slick and guitar work likened to Jimi Hendrix and David Gilmour, Jocelyn & Chris and their band have charted three consecutive radio singles in the Billboard AAA Top 40, taken two records to #1 on the Jambands Top 30 Album Chart, and appeared nationally on NBC’s Today Show. More...

A blend of five talented Connecticut musicians who have performed in chamber music groups throughout Fairfield County for the past 30 years, featuring oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon and flute. On Saturday, the quintet will perform 20th-century dance music: 1963 Sciarada Spagnuola by Dutch composer Juriaan An-driessen, Milonga Sin Pallabres by Tango composer Piazzola, the 1995 Dance Suite by Paul Valjean, the 1959 Early Hungarian Dances by Farkas Ferenc, and Dance Suite by Norman Hallam.
