Dear DriverXers,
Well, we're pulling into our final destination for this Fall festival season--Fort Worth, Texas. We'll be playing at the Lone Star Film Festival this Friday night, at 7:30pm. Patrick was able to slip away for this one and he and I will be on a panel and then doing a Q&A after the show.
If you know anyone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, please send them our way. We're hoping to get a big house for this one, in my home state, and on the day after my birthday!
For those of you who have seen the movie already, I want to mention again how much we appreciate you coming to our screenings and joining this mailing list. And I want to ask again to help us make the film more visible to others. There are two big ways you can help us do that:
- Follow us on Social Media and post something positive about the movie. If you're so inclined to do that, please make sure to include our handle in your post. For Twitter and Instagram, that would be @DriverXMovie . We're also on Facebook, where once you 'Like' our page, you can imbed the link in your post by typing '@DriverX'. Actually just following us on our three social media platforms makes a big difference to potential distributors, since they not only judge you by the quality of your film, but also by your social status. (Links to our social pages are at the bottom of this email)
- Rate us on IMDB. IMDB has become the de facto way people decide to see a movie at a festival. They read the description, perhaps watch a trailer, and then look it up on IMDB to see if it has a good rating. Because we've just finished the film, we have very few ratings right now. This is where you come in. It takes about 2 seconds to rate a film on IMDB. Just click the button below and then click the star that says "Rate This" (to the right of the Title). If you're not logged into IMDB, it will ask you to log in first, and if you don't already have an IMDB account, it will ask you to create one, which takes about 5 seconds and is free. Of course, I want you to be honest with your rating, but if you're going to go to all the trouble to rate the film, please consider rating it highly, (just sayin'...)!
It's like you've just taken an Uber or Lyft and now you get a chance to rate your driver!

Now, if you really want to help us out, and you miss your college creative writing days, you might want to review the film on IMDB. This takes about 2-5 minutes, depending on how much and how quickly you write. To review the film, log into IMDB, rate it first (let's get as many ratings as we can), then click the button below and give it your best Roger Ebert or Pauline Kael. All of this, trust me, is vitally important for a little indie like ours, and of course, MOST APPRECIATED!

WE'RE IN THE NEWS!
We got some nice press out of St. Louis. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch included us in their festival preview story, which is pretty great because there were a ton of films in the festival and they only mentioned nine in this story including ours.
Channel 2, the local Fox affiliate, mentioned us too. And they only mentioned 2 other films! |
| | Local St. Louis DJ Paul Harris from radio station KTRS did a great interview with Patrick, and We Are Movie Geeks interviewed Patrick and also reviewed the film, saying it was "compelling...you’ll be glad you spent the time with these characters and got an insight into a world you’ve only seen from the outside” and that there was a "great central performance from Fabian.”
Man Vs. Movie did a nice story on Patrick and the movie, and That Moment In Podcast did an interview with Patrick also. And Tanya Clarke was interviewed by Suzee Behind The Scenes, talking about her career and the movie.
I should also mention that Tanya has been recurring on ABC's Inhumans and Patrick will be on Fox's Lucifer this Monday night, and will be on several episodes of CBS' Code Black this season.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
After we finish Lone Star, we'll be waiting to hear from several Spring festivals. I will let you know when and where the film will be playing next, maybe at a festival near you! I'll also finally have some time to finish cutting several videos I look forward to posting from a long interview I did with Patrick and another interview with Desmin. There's some fun insights in those.
Until then, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I know we're thankful to finally get this movie finished and out into the world, and thrilled to have you along for the ride!
Best, Mark |
