Many people have heard of the mind-body connection, but what about the 'body-mind' connection?
Well... isn't it the same thing?
Yes. And, no.
The mind and body are definitely connected for sure. The key is to understand that it's a 2-way street. This means that the mind influences the body. For example, your thoughts help to dictate your emotions, and your emotions help to determine your actions and behaviors. You can also use the 'power of your mind' to influence how your body looks and operates.
However, the reverse is also true. When you move and strengthen your body, it will influence how your mind is structured, thinks, and functions as well. This means that a strong body, leads to a strong mind. This is important for vibrant health, as well as a good overall quality of life. A well functioning mind can keep you grounded, focused, and disciplined. It can solve problems, formulate ideas, and is capable of 'critical thinking' (which appears to be 'lacking' in today's world for sure.)
A strong 'body-mind' is needed for both survival, and resilience. When your body is strong, your mind can become more confident. When your body is strong, your mind can overcome limitations. When your body is strong, your mind can have a greater sense of peace. When your body is strong, your immune system becomes strong— including your mind being more immune to 'negative' thinking!
Therefore, make sure to exercise your body on a regular basis. Make sure to challenge it physically, so you can stay sharp mentally. Exercising at moderate to high intensities can be very healthy, as long as it's done safely and progressed wisely. Remember: Health is earned! This means vibrant health can't be achieved overnight. You must put in the time and energy to create it. Part of this time and energy should be dedicated to physical exercise (and/or work) that strengthens the 'body', so your 'mind' can stay connected to it.
