Spring is now in full effect for sure. The Wood element continues to express itself on Nature’s canvas — beautifully expressing it’s art-scape in the various forms of foliage; while animals chase playfully; and temperatures continue to rise as well. 


The energy of spring brings an upward energetic force, that if not kept in check, can feel a bit frenetic and even overwhelming on occasion. Again, this is a great time to really ‘get rooted' in nature with your bare feet on the Earth each day. Use this valuable spring time and energy to take focused action on your goals for the year. Spring is full of green, and including some of this color in your spring wardrobe would be a good idea as well. 


Maintaining balance in the Liver (yin) and Gallbladder (yang) organs can also help to navigate the spring season with more balance and harmony. Last month we discussed a powerful Liver acupressure point (Lv 3). This month, you will learn about a very powerful acupressure point that can help bring balance to your gallbladder organ and channel (GB 41), and the Wood Element overall.

My PROMISE to You!



Over 25 years ago, I was faced with some serious health challenges. One of the outcomes from this experience was that I would always promise to be a ‘Health Raiser’ and give back — to help others also become ‘health raisers’— so they could also rise up and achieve a vibrant state of health and spread more LOVE on this planet. Up until now, I have kept to this promise, and I plan to keep delivering on it moving forward.


In keeping in good alignment with my commitment, I have also promised to always serve from the heart, which means... it’s actually ME writing this Newsletter or blog posts; or creating masterclasses; or leading retreats, classes, or workshops; or coaching individuals or groups of people. Again, it’s ME, not some AI robot or technology that pretends to be me. In other words, I won’t sell you out, or myself either. I never have and never will. My words and teachings are genuine — straight from me to you. I believe this is the most ethical and human way to serve others (yes, I meant to say ‘human’ not humane). 


Technology is great, but it can’t substitute for the ‘human’ element (the passion, creativity, love, desire, and connection) that goes into loving service to others. Therefore, please know that when you hear from ME, it’s actually ME. I believe in leading by example. As such, I do not intend to ever supplant my mission, passion, or purpose with some watered-down version of who I am; what I stand for; and what I believe in! 


There are lots of fakery, deceit, and smoke and mirrors in these present times. I choose to be REAL instead.

Healing On Point


There are many potent acupoints in the body that can help to rebalance and re harmonize the flow of vital life force energy (also known as “Qi” — pronounced “Chee”). Always remember: “When Qi flows, then health glows.” One such point is Gallbladder 41 or GB 41 point. (Also known as: “Foot Above Tears” or “Zulinqi”)


This is said to be a powerful point to help correct imbalances in the Gallbladder channel and organ. It has an energizing effect on the Wood element. It can help you to be more bold, take action, and put your ‘best foot forward’ in the world so you can make good choices and important decisions. 


Overall this point is a good point for:


  • any sudden onset of pain or discomfort in the body

  • headaches

  • visual distortion

  • dizziness 

  • tinnitus (ringing); or stuffiness in ear

  • sinus congestion

  • neck tension

  • menstrual problems

  • infertility

  • vaginal discharge

  • abdominal fullness

  • pain in neck; jaw; foot; ankle; knee; hip; low back; sciatica; or anywhere along the sides of body 

  • foot or ankle swelling 

  • water retention

  • arthritic pains

  • helps to reset the biorhythms and energy of the whole body

  • emotional processing: anger (a block of rising wood energy); depression (a collapse of wood energy)


Location of this point:

On top of the foot in a hollow between the 4th-5th metatarsal bones

(approximately 2 fingers above the junction where the 4th-5th toes meet). See picture above for point location.


How to stimulate this point:

You can use your index finger an/or thumb to push gently into this point. Or, gently squeeze the point on each side and then lift this point upwards. Hold the pressure or gentle stretch of the point for 1-3 minutes as you breathe slowly through your nose down into your lower belly region. 


To be clear: 

Does pushing on this point make up for a lack of ‘healthy living’? Does it erase a person’s bad habits or poor health choices. Of course not. It can’t make up for those things! However what it can do is help to rebalance the disrupted energy flow in the body that these things caused in the first place.


The whole point of using this vital acupoint is to reestablish balance, harmony, and flow in the body.  It's not a substitute for healthy living, but rather a supplement for healthy living.



'Breathe' or 'Suffocate’  



Everyone breathes, but many people are actually slowly suffocating each day.


There is a big difference between ‘breathing’ and ‘breathing well’.


Those who breathe, live. (That’s most people).


Those who breathe well, thrive. (That’s not most people)


The mistake many people make is thinking since they are alive, they are breathing well. However, nothing could be further from the truth. I am reminded of this every day in the clinic when working with sick and injured patients (as well as when just observing so-called ‘healthy people’ breathe when outside of the clinic). The sad reality is that many people are slowly suffocating each day — prematurely aging, running their well dry, and never reaching their true living potential. Since this is a chronic condition, which they have ‘gotten used to’, they don’t even realize ‘how good’ they could actually feel. 


Breathing is one of the greatest gifts we receive when born — it is the gift that keeps on giving. It gives us life. It keeps us going. It allows us to heal. It animates us in physical form. It connects us deeply to ourselves, each other, and the planet. If you are not breathing well, the rest of your health regimen will not bring you the results you desire.


Without breathing well, everything you eat won’t be processed and assimilated properly. The beverages you drink won’t be absorbed or hydrate you correctly. The light you take in will not reach to the deepest levels of your tissues to help adequately nourish you. The rest and sleep you get will be suboptimal. Your exercise training capacity will be limited, as well as your overall performance and recovery. Your body will not be able to fully detoxify and cleanse itself. The love and connection you are able to feel and experience will be lacking as well. 


BREATH is FIRST! Everything else is SECOND!


The MORE you realize, embrace, and practice this principle, you will come to experience how true it is. Breathing has stood the test of time. This is why it’s written about in every culture. If it wasn’t that valuable and important, people would have stopped talking and teaching about it long ago. It’s so simple, yet so easy to forget to do. It’s elusive at times, but the more attention and respect you give it, the more you will benefit from all it has to offer. 


There are many ways to breathe, but ‘breathing well’ should be the main goal if you want to feel great and truly thrive each day! Before you say: “Yeah, I know all that. I already do it.” I will say back: “How sure are you?” There is always room for improvement. Breathing well is one skill you could never be too good at.


Connecting with your breath for even just a few minutes a day can make a big difference in your health and your life. 


It is ALWAYS time well spent!
