Just sending out a quick alert to fans in the Toronto area that there's a special free event happening tomorrow night (Jan 4).
I was asked awhile ago to do a DJ set at this cool, no-cover (19+) goth night called ALTÆR that is held at Christie Pits Pub (central Toronto; address is at the bottom).
As work on a fairly 'danceable' track for the next record was ongoing, I realized that it'd probably be ready for a preview spin by Jan 4. So Karl, Sky and I put the pedal to the metal a bit and got the job done.
Perhaps caught up in a bit of end-of-the-year mania, I thought --- why not make this DJ set a night of previews? Maybe I could persuade some of the other artists we've worked with before to send us some tracks. So I sent a bunch of messages out to people, and waited.
At first no one got back - but over the last couple of days I've been hit by a minor flood of tracks from bands whose work I love and respect. So now I can officially announce - in addition to a brand new Double Eyelid track, I'll be previewing new tracks by Johnny Hollow, Andi Sex Gang, Eye Steal, Social Station, Double Echo, Dead Red Velvet, Phantom High and Jay Draper and the Subterraneans.
This is all happening tomorrow night and it's a one-night-only event. As the artists involved gave me their tracks on the condition that this was for preview only, there will be no mixcloud upload after the fact. This is the first and last time these tracks will be heard publicly until they are officially released.
