Dear Friend,

Our new year novena theme of living witness to God's power, love, and mercy continues today with the story of the miraculous healing and conversion of Dr. Gloria Polo. Her story has been told worldwide and has led countless souls to Christ and the Catholic Church.

Yves Jacques of Michael Journal, publishers of Struck by Lighting, Dr. Polo's testimony, joins us today to share her story. But isn't one to simply cause us to applaud the mercy of God; it is one to help us reflect on our own lives and actions, our values, and our sins, especially those of omission. The goal is to help us have a clearer view of how God sees us and thus our own need for conversion.

On May 5, 1995, something extraordinary happened to Dr. Gloria Polo Ortiz, a dentist from Bogata, Columbia.

She was taking shelter from a storm with her nephew when both of them were struck by lightning. What happened to her afterwards was a miracle tha led to her conversion and a life of abandonment to the will of God. Her testimony is an inspiration for all of us, and will increase our faith in Christ Jesus and His Holy Catholic Church.
