Divine Mercy Prayer Meeting & Holy Hour of Adoration and Prayer for Our Nation | | | "The incarnation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God among us, is the greatest act of mercy in the history of creation. Mercy Incarnate comes to dwell with us, and He is still with us in His Eucharistic Face." Joseph Strickland was born on October 31, 1958, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 1, 1985, for the Diocese of Dallas. His first assignment was to Immaculate Conception Parish in Tyler, Texas. Upon the creation of the Diocese of Tyler in 1987, Strickland became its first vocation director. In 1992, he was assigned to study canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, where he earned a Licentiate of Canon Law in 1994. In 1995, Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of monsignor. On September 29, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of the Diocese of Tyler, where he served the faithful of 33 counties until November 2023.
