Dear fasting friends,
Lately we have received many questions about exactly "how to fast."
We have explained that there are a variety of ways to fast and things to fast from. It all depends on where you are on the fasting scale. Now, I'm not referring to an actual scale, I'm referring to how long you have been fasting and at what level.
The important thing is to fast and to fast out of love and with love in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and for the conversion of sinners. If we keep this in mind our fasting will be sweet! But, back to the practical application of fasting. I ran across this short video posted below that provides guidelines for three popular ways of fasting today. These suggestions may help you feel better about your fasting practice and also give you some ideas about how to improve your fast. BUT, not only that, this video covers several health benefits of fasting. I see these benefits as a gift from the Lord back to us for the sacrifice we are offering Him. Wow. The Divine Mercy truly can never be outdone in generosity, so fast well. Fast for souls. Fast for your health: spiritual, physical and mental. Be strong and be well.
