Dear Fasting Friends,

Back in July, Fr. Kaz Chwalek, MIC, our Provincial Superior of the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge, Massachusetts delivered a thought-provoking homily after reading from the Gospel of St. Matthew about prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

To help make the most of every act of piety we can muster in these most critical of times, this scripture passage and Father Kaz's homily are both worth hearing and reflecting upon today.

Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938) did her best to do as the Lord commanded, keeping a diary during the last four years of her life. Several times she recorded that Jesus requested prayers and entreaties for her country.
