Subject: Fast Friday Die It

-

Dear fasting friends,

I never thought about the word diet like this before, but when you break it apart phonetically - die it, it says a lot about what dieting is all about, namely temperance and dying to self.

Through temperance and dying to our passion for food and drink, we become in control of our diet, which in turn helps us have control over all other inordinate passions.

We know you know this, so this is just your friendly reminder to stick to your FAST today.

Die to self and just say no to meat today as Holy Mother Church directs us. Die it!

Die to self and just say no to big meals today, we overeat most of the time anyway. Die it! Die to self and keep away from sweet and savory snacks today. Die it!

Die it! Die it! Die it!

Let this be our mantra throughout the day to help us to fast well and to importantly remember to offer our fasting to the One who died for us. The One who is still dying on the Cross and seeking acts of penance in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. If we don't do it, who will?

May the Lord grant us many graces for this offering today, and with them may we purchase the conversion of many sinners across our land. Dear Lord, please bless America and bless us big time!

To your diet! ----- Joan and Dave

God bless you and God bless America because of you!
