Dear Fasting Friend, Although last Friday, January 1, was the first Friday of the month and year, today is technically our first FAST Friday of 2021 because last Friday was the Solemnity Mary, the Holy Mother of God, a day of celebration. So, here we are - and here we hope - that we will all continue to do penance for our country by means of fasting, and fasting more ardently, in the intensifying battle. We know that many are feeling worn out and maybe even defeated in the battle for righteousness and conversions, and rightly so. We are in a war for souls and war is not fun. To win a war requires tenacity. To win a war requires focus on the goal and the reason for the battle. To win a war requires knowing your enemy and how to defeat it. That is why fasting is needed in this war and why we must employ it to the fullest. Fast well today. And let's be clear, that does not mean to starve yourself. It means to make your sacrifices with your heart in-tuned to your purpose and steeped in prayer. That is the way to polish your sword, to sharpen your blow, and to do mortal damage to our enemy who WILL be defeated! Glory to God! God bless you and may God bless America because of you!
