Dear Friend,


If you heard last week's Fast Friday message, you'd recall that the fourth Precept of the Church is to observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by Her.


Last week we covered the norms for fasting, and I promised to cover abstinence this week. So here's the message.

 
 

In this short video message today, I discuss what abstinence is, who must abstain, when, and when not. But also, perhaps most importantly, is the reason why the Church calls us to abstain. It's really beautiful and something good to remember. Enjoy!
