Why I Won't Skip The Gym!

It’s 4:30 am. I’m pulling myself out of bed, one bone at a time. Im sore enough to think, “I can’t even climb into the Rover.”

First thing I do is chug 20 ounces of spring water.


Next, I make gravity-feed coffee. (Coffee 101: No plastic coffee contraptions allowed, keep it simple.)  I prep it as if I’m packing a parachute. It’s a ritual, not coffee.


Ideally, my day would be filled with writing. That’s my favorite thing to do... because the Internet is a f@#king echo-chamber, filled with wanna-be’s and me-too’s hollering like hyenas on meth for attention through shitty podcasts, limp social media posts, and ill-thought-out videos.


But with three kids still living in the house, a business, and a jiujitsu gym to run, I’m too busy to spend all day penning a chemist’s version of Tupac lyrics to wake up sleepy baby baby boomers high on fluoride, meds and CNN.


Fact is, authenticity on the Internet and life in general has been wiped from the chalkboard of life. Very few are willing to sit down, tear open their rib cage, and press their guts onto the computer screen.


A lack of authenticity brings no progress.


I’m all about progress, even if it means pulling my bones out of bed 1% faster each day. The only exception is if I’m greedy enough to wake up my wife to put skin on skin.

Now it’s 6am and I rip myself away from the keyboard. I’m going to the gym.  It takes an act of God (or sex) to keep me from the gym each morning.


Working out is the catalyst for connecting you, me, ALL OF US to our real passions and focus in life.

(Sit on your ass for 50+ years, let the fat soak up all your potential and you’ll die a million deaths before your final one. A life in the gym is worth a thousand on the bench.)


I’ve learned that pushing my physical limits is vital for keeping my own unique “life identifier” in tact! Science explains this through proper hormone balance, output, and sensitivity (BOS).

Proper hormone BOS preserves and protects your true self and life’s purpose. It keeps us focused, determined, clear-headed, and energized.


Anything that disrupts your hormone BOS severs you from your TRUE SELF! Poor hormone BOS leads to ignorant fixations on life’s small, mundane issues…and it breeds AFFLUENZA! 


It makes you a sloppy b@#tch.

The average person is 50 pounds overweight… and complaining about 20 things that have zero to do with their life’s purpose. AND they’re in denial about it.

If you can’t take care of yourself, you sure as F@CK can’t take care of anyone else.

(It’s the coffee…)


The harder and more consistent my workout is, the more it shapes my perspective. It reminds me of everything I’m doing wrong and points the right way like a compass guides a ship at night.


To know what you’re doing wrong is a good thing!

Over time, my daily workouts proved to make me stronger and more equipped to react to external pressures, rather than falling victim to them. Self-worth shoots sky high. I see opportunity where everyone else sees victimhood and injustices.


See?


The workout isn’t about the physique...hell, sometimes it isn’t even about being healthy. It’s more about harnessing that hormone BOS to connect to my purpose.


It’s that vital.


Coffee done.
