Subject: Updated Public Safety Message

Dear Neighbors,

City officials and the Austin Police Department continue their day-and-night investigation to track down those responsible for the recent bombings across Austin. Over 500 officers representing local, state, and federal law enforcement and security agencies support these efforts.

My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those who have been targeted by the explosions. In the wake of four bombings, as a city we must call on our sense of community and resilience. We must remember that no matter where in Austin we live, work, or play, what is happening to one of us is happening to us all.

We must be especially aware of our surroundings and look out for one another.

APD is asking the public to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious. If you come across ANYTHING that looks suspicious, DO NOT touch, handle, or disturb it. Keep a safe distance and call 9-1-1 immediately. If you have any information, submit tips to local Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS (8477) or the state tip line at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). You may remain anonymous. In your immediate neighborhood, APD’s Neighborhood Watch Program provides an opportunity to look out for yourself and your neighbors.

Additionally, APD found that last night's explosion differed from the pattern of the previous three. Please be on the look out for any unusual devices, wires, backpacks, bags, boxes, etc. We need your eyes and ears to help solve these crimes.

Sincerely,

Alison Alter
Council Member, District 10
