Subject: Happy New Year & Farewell!

Dear Neighbors,

I write to you today for the last time as your District 10 Council Member. Thank you for trusting me to represent you, and for engaging with me and my office in the important work of making Austin an even better place to live and work. I hope you continue to engage, vote, and voice your opinions!

The start of a new year is a time of transition, especially so this year. If you would like to reflect on all we have accomplished together over the last 8 years, I invite you to listen to the This is Democracy Podcast I recently recorded with Jeremi and Zachary Suri, my husband and son, review my last newsletter, and/or check out a great article published today in the Austin Monitor entitled “From deep dives to creative thinking, Alison Alter brought an innovative approach to her policy work.”

I hope you will stay in touch with me on social media (Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn and now Bluesky). Should you need to reach me by email, please contact the District 10 office at district10@austintexas.gov and they will forward your correspondence to me.

In the first part of the year, I look forward to seeing you as we celebrate the grand opening of our new Canyon Creek Fire/EMS Station and the reopening of the Old Quarry Library following extensive renovations (dates to be determined).

Your new council member, Marc Duchen, takes office on Monday, January 6, with inauguration scheduled for 6 p.m. and viewable on ATXN. His office will be reachable at the same District 10 phone and email, (512) 978 - 2110 and district10@austintexas.gov, starting January 7. I am working with him on a smooth transition.

I would like to conclude with a THANK YOU to my District 10 team past and present. Their dedication and effectiveness were critical to my ability to serve you well.

When I was recruited to run for City Council in the early summer of 2016, I did not fully comprehend the adventure I was embarking on. Thank you for traveling with me on this amazing journey.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Regards,

Alison Alter

Council Member, District 10

Happy New Year from your District 10 team!
